History

The roots of Polmos Lublin, (known today as Stock Polska), go back to the first half of the 20th century. At the time it was the famous manufacturer Emil Plage who was the heart of the company and who began the production of the first distilled spirits. Thanks to the immense devotion of his successors the company survived through the storms of both world wars and, as a result, revived production in 1944. It looked as if the worst was over but the communist regime, which came to rule in post-war Poland, did not allow the enterprise to exist in its original state. Nationalisation of private manufacturers went ahead and the property belonging to Retifikacja Lubelska was seized in 1951 by Państwowy Monopol Spirytusowy – the National Alcohol Monopoly. Such a fate was soon experienced by every other drinks company in Poland.

The result of this change in the ownership was that for almost the next fifty years the company from Lublin was managed by the government, namely by Państwowe Przedsiębiorstwo Przemysłu Spirytusowego “Polmos”. At the time to be state-owned was the only legal way for the manufacturers to function. Much later came political changes in Poland and a process of gradual change for the status of the company. It was first restructured as a joint-stock company with shareholding held by the State, before being privatised. After all the changes, the company survived, to become the leading manufacturer in the speciality vodka market and one of the most important players in the branded drinks market. A position that has been retained by the company to this day.

The time-honoured production of Lublin distillery’s excellent products stems from its understanding of the fundamental technology required. Thanks to its long experience and high quality products the Stock Polska/Polmos Lublin company has been successful in the current free market economy, competing with the biggest distilleries and continually expanding its product range.

Today, Stock Polska/Polmos Lublin is the distillery making the most popular clear and flavoured/speciality vodkas in Poland: Czysta de Luxe and Żołądkowa Gorzka, as well as other well-known brands, all of which are highly appreciated on our market.
