A taste of the Caribbean from Stock
A taste of the Caribbean from Stock

Hot Cuba, Brazil or maybe the Caribbean? On winter days, our thoughts eagerly turn to such warm corners of the world - their colours and especially their flavours. The latest product from Stock Polska, Stock Caribbean Rum, helps to transport one to those ideas of paradise.

Rum is an alcoholic beverage known for centuries in the Caribbean Sea region. It is manufactured exclusively from sugar cane using a process of distillation and fermentation and the name “rum” itself is now protected solely for such beverages.

According to available sources, the first distillation of rum took place on Caribbean sugar cane plantations in the 17th century. Documents, found on Barbados and which date back to 1651, state that “the main intoxicant manufactured on the island is Rumbullion, alias Kill-Divil, made from sugar cane distillate and it is a very potent devil’s beverage”. English privateers, many of whom later became pirates, introduced it outside the Caribbean. Their fondness for this alcoholic beverage has been popularised in literature – for instance, in the well-known novel by R. L. Stevenson: “Treasure Island”.

The most famous and valued rums come from Jamaica (in the Caribbean) and this is also where Stock Caribbean Rum is manufactured. It marks an entry for Stock Polska into an important spirit category and also completes the company’s product offering.

This rum owes its dark amber colour to the process of maturation in blackened white oak barrels and the intense flavour and aroma are due to the Caribbean microclimate where the sugar cane, used for its manufacture, grows. Clearly detectable sweet, sugary notes taste perfectly … and not just in cocktails. The smooth flavour of Stock Caribbean Rum will satisfy the demands of exacting connoisseurs also when served neat.
